Acatar Care nasal spray 15ml, oxymetazoline hydrochloride, nasal mucosa

The active substance in Acatar Care nasal spray is oxymetazoline hydrochloride. It is a drug that reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa. The preparation is intended for short-term use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Composition of Acatar Care nasal spray:

Active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride (Oxymetazolini hydrochloridum). 1 ml of solution contains 0.5 mg of oxymetazoline hydrochloride and excipients: glycerol 85%, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hyaluronate, hydrochloric acid 25% (to adjust the pH), sodium hydroxide (to adjust the pH), water for injections. One 45 microliter spray dose contains 22.5 mcg of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.

Operation of Acatar Care nasal spray:

Oxymetazoline hydrochloride constricts blood vessels, thus reducing swelling of the inflamed nasal mucosa. Acatar Care nasal spray reduces the excess production of secretions, thus facilitating free breathing through the nose. By reducing the congestion of the nasal mucosa, the drainage ducts of the paranasal sinuses are opened and expanded, and the Eustachian tubes are unblocked. This helps in clearing up the secretions more easily and healing the bacterial infection. The effect of the drug lasts up to 12 hours after application. The preparation also contains hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium salt, this ingredient has a moisturizing and protective effect. Composition without preservatives. Compared with saline solution, Acatar Care reduces the average duration of acute rhinitis (stuffy nose,

Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: the possibility of using the drug should be discussed with your doctor, and caution is advised when using the drug, and the recommended doses should not be increased. In the following cases, the drug should only be used after careful consideration of the benefits and risks by the doctor, in addition, special care should be taken: treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) and other drugs that may increase blood pressure; increased intraocular pressure - especially angle-closure glaucoma; severe diseases of the heart and blood vessels (e.g. ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension); pheochromocytoma of the adrenal gland; metabolic disorders (e.g. hyperthyroidism, diabetes). Use with other drugs: consult your doctor or pharmacist. Concomitant use of oxymetazoline with certain drugs used in depression (MAO inhibitors of the tranylcypromine type and tricyclic or tetracyclic antidepressants) may lead to an increase in blood pressure. The effectiveness of drugs to reduce nasal mucosa swelling may decrease as a result of their long-term use or overdose, but this may lead to an increase in doses and frequency of application, and consequently to the need for constant use of the drug. In the event of long-term use or abuse of the drug, its use should be discontinued immediately. Continuous use of the drug may lead to obstructive breathing caused by reactive nasal congestion (rebound effect), chronic drug-induced rhinitis medicamentosa, and mucosal atrophy or dry rhinitis sicca. Usually, these symptoms disappear after stopping the drug. Overuse of topical nasal medications can lead to mucosal atrophy and reactive congestion with drug-induced rhinitis medicamentosa. Driving and using machines: long-term use of oxymetazoline or its use in doses higher than recommended may lead to systemic adverse effects on the cardiovascular and central nervous system,

Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use in the case of dry rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa with the formation of crusts). Do not use in people who have undergone surgery performed through the nose (e.g. removal of the pituitary gland), surgery involving the exposure of the dura mater (brain surgery performed through the nose or mouth). Do not use under 6 years of age.

Side effects:

Acatar Care nasal spray dosage:

Use the drug as prescribed by your doctor or as indicated on the leaflet. For nasal use only (also in Eustachianitis and otitis media). For hygiene reasons, one package should be used by one person. Adults, children over 6 years of age: use one dose of the drug in each nostril 2-3 times a day. It should not be used for more than 5-7 days. The use of longer than recommended and overdosage of the drug should be avoided. Press the pump several times before using it for the first time. Apply the drug keeping the head in an upright position without tilting it back, place the applicator in the nostril so as not to completely block its lumen. Point the tip of the applicator towards the opposite side of the nasal septum, i.e. in the right nostril towards the right eye and in the left towards the left eye. Press down vigorously on the dispenser while inhaling through your nose. Do not spray the spray directly onto the nasal septum, due to the risk of damage to the nasal mucosa. Clean the dispenser after use.
